What we did

app interface

Phase 1

ApexTech deployed a technically and business-aligned team of professionals to gather requirements across the business and interview target audiences to understand the desired usage and needs of BI app interfaces. Analysis work began with producing detailed process maps and updating the non-functional requirements of the operations.

Phase 2

We calibrated an actuarial model, adopting a data warehouse architecture based on Microsoft SQL Server to facilitate data analysis and knowledge discovery. Specifically, we performed data extraction from multiple source systems: CSV, SQL, Excel, and APIs. After that, data transformation and consolidation into a data warehouse was carried out by our team. We also delivered multi-dimensional analytical cubes that embraced essential business areas identified by the client. We used SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Data Tools to develop the required BI solution.

 SQL Server Reporting Services

Phase 3

The SQL development delivered for the numerous processes needed subsequent testing through an automation approach adopting several technologies such as Jenkins and SQL server.

Phase 4

The end-user visualization is achieved using Power BI to generate self-servicing reports, while the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) was used to build standard reports. To create a consistent unified design, we built shared vocabularies, established a set of rules for layout, navigation, and filtering, focused each page within each application on presenting a single “story” with a unified structure across different technologies.

Phase 5

Our team also worked to achieve security at the SQL Server Analysis Services level. Our solution will help to avoid creating duplicate reports for different users. Instead, one report is built, and the business users access certain information blocks based on their permissions.

Phase 6

ApexTech provided technical training for administration and onsite training for end-users to improve data literacy and empower them with self-serve analytical tools. Our training program provided the foundation for user adoption for key team members.
